Box Score Looking to bounce back from a 13-7 loss at Albion on Tuesday, the Alma College Women's Lacrosse team hit the road to faceoff against Olivet College on Saturday afternoon. Despite holding a four-point lead in the second half, the Scots would fall to the Comets 12-10 thanks to six-straight Olivet goals to end the game.
With the loss, Alma falls to 3-9 overall and 2-2 in MIAA action. The Comets improve to 6-5 on the year and 2-2 in league play with the victory.
Down 1-0 in the first half, the Scots would rebound in a major way, as goals by Sr. MF Sydney Bryce (Lake Orion/Lake Orion), Sr. MF Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing/Waverly), Jr. A Ashton Street (Brighton/Brighton), Jr. MF Mallory Simon (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern) and So. A Kaitlyn Urick (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbrand West) would put Alma up 5-1 with just under 13 minutes to play in the half.
The Comets would score two goals to bring the match to 5-3, before Urick would collect her second goal of the afternoon to give Alma the 6-3 advantage with 4:07 left on the clock.
Jr. A Ashlee Fish (Alma/Alma) ended the half by scoring her first goal of the season to give the Scots the 6-3 lead after the first 30 minutes.
Urick started the second half with a goal and was followed by another by Bryce, to stretch the Alma advantage to 9-3 at 28:37.
The home team would score the next three, cutting the defecit to 9-6 just under 24 minutes remaining in regulation.
At 20:33, Street would ring the bell for the second time to put the Scots up 10-6.
Olivet would then put it away at home, ending the game on a 6-0 run to earn the 12-10 come-from-behind victory.
Urick led the Scots with three goals, while Street and Bryce both chipped in two. So. D Ali Holmquist (Canton/Plymouth) scooped up a team-high six groundballs and Gallihugh led the way with three draw controls to go along with one goal.
In net, So. GK Miranda Kruse (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Pioneer) drops to 3-9 on the year after allowing 12 goals on 24 shots.
The Scots cap off their three-game road trip on Friday, April 17, traveling to take on Calvin College at 5:00 p.m.
