On Wednesday evening, the Alma College Women's Tennis team wrapped up their 2015 Spring Break trip with a match against the University of St. Francis (IN). The Scots were defeated by the Cougars 6-3 and head back to Alma with an overall record of 3-2 on the season.
In doubles competition, the #1 team of Jr. Megan Solano (Trenton/Trenton) and Sr. Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc/Grand Blanc) defeated Shelby Richardson / Brittany Barger of St. Francis by a score of 9-7.
The #2 tandem of Jr. Nicki Malekadeli (Midland/H.H. Dow) and Jr. Paige Pontious (Caledonia/Caledonia) were defeated 8-4 by Grace Heise / Courtney Witte, while the #3 group of So. Chloe Ramsey (Vicksburg/Vicksburg) and Fr. Amy Wood (Grand Rapids) were defeated by Rebecca Faber / Sydney Ford 8-0.
The Scots took two of the six singles matches during the match with #1 Solano defeating Barger (6-0, 7-6(5)), and #4 Pontious besting Richardson (6-1, 6-0).
Suffering defeats for Alma were #2 Waier dropping a match to Heise (3-6, 3-6), #3 Malekadeli losing to Faber (0-6, 3-6), #5 So. Chloe Ramsey (Vicksburg/Vicksburg) losing to Witte (3-6, 4-6) and Fr. Matilda Ennis (Glenside/Phil-Mont Christian Academy) dropping the match to Ford (3-6, 3-6).
