The Alma Women's Tennis team kicked of their 2015 spring break trip on Saturday, traveling to Ohio to face off against Baldwin Wallace University. The Scots came out on top in a close match, defeating the Yellow Jackets 5-4 at the North Ridge Racquet Club.

AT first singles, Jr. Megan Solano (Trenton/Trenton) put Alma on the board first with a 2-6,1-6,1-6 victory.

Sr. Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc/Grand Blanc) kept in rolling at second position, earning the 3-6,6-2,6-4 win to put the Scots up 2-0.

Following a Baldwin Wallace win at third position,  Jr. Paige Pontious (Caledonia/Caledonia) put Alma up 3-1 with a 6-1,6-1 victory.

Fr. Matilda Ennis (Glenside/Phil-Mont Christian Academy) capped off the singles portion of the event with a 6-3,6-0 win to give Alma the 4-2 lead heading in to doubles.

The tandem of Solano/Waier kicked off the doubles portion of the evening with an 8-6 victory to stretch the Scots lead to 5-2.

The Yellow Jackets won the final two doubles matches, but it was not enough, as Alma collected the 5-4 victory on the road.

The Scots continue play tomorrow, taking on Marietta College (OH) at 8:00 a.m.
