Alma College Women's Tennis team lost to conference foe Adrian College 5-4 on Saturday, in a match that was relocated to the Michigan Athletic Club in Lansing due to weather conditions.
With the loss, the Scots drop to 3-10-3 overall and 1-4 in the MIAA. The Bulldogs improve to 8-5 on the year, with a 1-2 mark in league play after Saturday's win.
"We had a few matches that could have gone our way," said Alma Head Coach Brittany Miller. "We just could not close them out."
The tandem of So. Megan Solano (Trenton/Trenton) and Jr. Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc/Grand Blanc) started the day off with an impressive 8-2 victory at first doubles.
The Scots would drop the next two double matches and head into the singles portion of the afternoon down 2-1.
Solano claimed victory in first position 6-0,6-0 and Waier would follow with a 6-3, 6-3 win to put Alma up 3-2.
Holding onto a one-point lead, the Scots would drop the next two singles matches to take a 4-3 deficit into fifth position.
At fifth singles, So. Paige Pontious (Caledonia/Caledonia) claimed a 6-2,6-0 victory, and the score was all tied up heading into the final singles match of the afternoon.
Alma would fall in three sets in sixth position and leave Lansing with the 5-4 loss.
