The Alma College Women's Tennis team traveled to Grand Rapids on Tuesday afternoon for a match at Calvin College. The Scots were unable to secure their second-straight conference victory on Tuesday, falling to the Knights 7-2 at the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
With the loss, Alma drops to 3-8-3 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA. Calvin earns its first conference win of the year, improving to 1-0 in the MIAA and 3-7 overall.
The tandem of So. Megan Solano (Trenton/Trenton) and Jr. Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc/Grand gave the Scots the early 1-0 advantage with an 8-6 victory at first doubles.
Alma would be unable to secure another doubles win, and moved into the singles portion of the evening down 2-1.
The home team claimed the first five single matches to extend the lead to 6-1, heading into the final singles matchup.
In sixth singles, Fr. Chloe Ramsey (Vicksburg/Vicksburg) collected her second-straight victory in a three-set match (6-0, 3-6, 10-7), but the Scots would take the 7-2 defeat on the road Tuesday.
Alma welcomes Albion College to campus tomorrow, April 2nd, for a match at 4:00 p.m.
