Women's Tennis drops 8-1 decision to Davenport on Saturday at Stone Recreation Center

The Alma women's tennis team dropped their season opener Saturday afternoon to Davenport University. The team faced stiff competition from the #25 ranked NAIA squad, as they fell 8-1 at the Stone Recreation Center.

Victorious on the day for the Scots was So. Lauren Moreau (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over her Panther foe at #6 singles.  

Jr. Katie Meloche (Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon West Michigan Christian) lost a tightly contested match at #4 singles, 6-4, 7-5.

At #3 singles Sr. Amy Baronowski (Marshall, Mich./Marshall) pushed her opponent before ultimately dropping the match by a 6-4, 6-3 count.  The team returns to action next Sunday, February 12, in Grand Rapids when they take on Grand Rapids Community College.
