The women's tennis remained undefeated in Florida with an 8-1 victory over Capital University on Wednesday. The victory brings the Scots winning streak to four in a row and improves their record to 4-1 on the season.
The Scots jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play. At #1 doubles Sr. Jen Meloche (Muskegon, MI/Muskegon West Michigan Christian) and Fr. Erin Clutter (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) paired up to capture an 8-1 win. The #2 doubles pairing of Sr. Amy Baranowski (Marshall, MI/Marshall) and Jr. Katie Meloche (Muskegon, MI/Muskegon West Michigan Christian) also brought home an 8-1 win. At #3 doubles the Scots margin of victory was 8-2 with So. Brittney Miller (Muskegon/North Muskegon High School) and So. Lauren Moreau (Lansing, MI/Lansing Catholic) claiming the win.
Having completed a sweep in the doubles the Scots carried their momentum into singles play by winning five of the six flights. J. Meloche captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at #1 singles. At #2 Clutter downed her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Rounding out the top half of the line-up at #3 Baronowski laid claim to a dominating 6-3, 6-0 win.
K. Meloche downed her Crusader foe at #4 with a 6-1, 6-1 win. At #5 Moreau won the first set without dropping a game before closing things out in the second for a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The Scots will look to finish their Spring Break trip undefeated tomorrow with a match against Concordia-Moorhead (MN). The match is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, FL.
