The Alma Women's Tennis team hosted Kalamazoo College, ranked 15th in the region on Tuesday, and dropped a 7-2 decision. The Scots, who are now 0-3 in the MIAA and 6-6 overall, won two of three in the doubles portion of the match, but the Hornets swept all six singles matches for the win. Kalamazoo improved to 2-0 in the league and 5-4 in 2010.
The Alma doubles teams of Margaret Curtiss/Jen Meloche (8-4) and Kelsey Erwin/Lauren Stevenson (9-8) (7-2) gave the Scots that advantage heading into the singles matches. However, the Hornets, one of the favorites to win the league, settled down and took all six singles matches for the win.
The Scots next match will be at Hope College next Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Alma will host Trine University on April 7 and Judson University on the 8th, before playing another home match against Olivet College on April 10.
