2026 Men’s Soccer Season Preview

ALMA, Mich. – A new season brings a new opportunity for the Alma College men's soccer program, as the Scots prepare to open the 2026 campaign Tuesday afternoon at Scotland Yard against Kuyper College. Alma was picked to finish tied with Trine for sixth place in the 2026 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason poll, receiving 15 points. The Scots enter the season looking to build on a 6-10-2 record from a year ago while developing a roster that features a mix of experienced veterans and emerging young players.

Athletes to Watch
The Scots will be led by senior goalkeeper Bradshaw Uhlmann, who returns for his third season between the pipes. Uhlmann has established himself as one of Alma's top defensive players, ranking fourth in program history with five career shutouts. In 2025, he ranked first in the MIAA in saves per game at 5.30 and second in save percentage at 76.8 percent. He finished the season with 53 saves, a 1.73 goals-against average and three victories.

Senior midfielder Kaiden Link also returns to provide experience in the midfield. Link appeared in 17 matches last season and led the Scots with three assists. He enters his senior campaign having played in 33 career matches with 18 starts.

The Scots will also look to a pair of sophomores to provide an offensive spark. Gavyn Moore returns after recording three assists and one goal during his freshman season, while Fabinho Vasco enters his second season after an efficient debut campaign. Vasco scored three goals on 10 shots in 2025 and posted a team-best 30 percent shooting percentage, adding two assists and a game-winning goal.

On the defensive side, Mason Horwath returns after leading the team with 1,344 minutes played in 2025. The junior defender appeared in 17 matches and made 14 starts as a sophomore, giving Alma an experienced presence in the back line.

Road Ahead
The first opportunity comes Tuesday against Kuyper. The Scots own a 1-0 record all-time against the Cougars, with Alma earning a 2-0 victory in the most recent meeting on Oct. 4, 2024, at Scotland Yard. Kuyper wentt 0-2 overall and 0-1 in NCCAA play a season ago. The season opener is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Scotland Yard.
