Men’s Soccer Punches Ticket to Postseason

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Alma College men's soccer program is heading to the MIAA Tournament for the first time since 2018 as the Scots silenced the Thunder to lock up its trip to the postseason courtesy of its 2-1 road dub.

The triumph in Angola also marked the Maroon and Teal's first victory over Trine in a decade.

How It Happened:
Fabinho Vasco came into the match as the team's leading assister but wound up scoring the first goal of the game instead as Cullen MacKay's helper at the 20:20 mark moved him into a tie for the top spot to give Alma the upper-hand.

Asher Clark gave the Scots some breathing room by hammering home an unassisted score in the 80th minute, which turned out to be the game-winner as Trine inched closer only four minutes later off the foot of Jonah Sipes, but Clark's rocket proved to be the difference maker.

Scots' Top Performers:
Vasco led AC in shots with a trio, and his one accurate attempt found the back of the net for his sixth career goal and Clark's game-winner was the second of his freshman campaign, giving him a Scots-high six scores in 2026.

MacKay's assist puts him at four for his debut collegiate season, Jack Lemerand plus Anthony Mirolli (two shots) registered the other SOGs, and Gabe Lara recorded two off-target shots to wrap up the offensive notables.

Bradshaw Uhlmann had arguably his best game of the season when Coach Newby needed him the most, cashing in five saves over six chances (83.3%) as part of a complete match effort that saw him tie Graham Wallace for the third-highest win total by a Scots goalkeeper over his career at an even dozen.

Next:
Tuesday's 4 p.m. matchup against Hope will be to determine conference tournament seeding as a win or tie versus the Flying Dutchmen locks Alma into the #5 slot while a loss on top of an Adrian victory at Olivet drops the Scots down to #6.
