Farmington Hills, MI – Alma College Softball had three student-athletes selected to the All-MIAA second team on Wednesday, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Alma's
Jordyn Porter,
Katelyn Thomas, and
Morgan Westall received the honor.All three are earning the All-MIAA accolade for the first time in their careers.
Porter, a senior outfielder from Manchester, Michigan, had one of the top power bats in the conference. In MIAA play, She hit five doubles, good for 7
th, and hit one triple, also good for 7
th. She hit .388 with an on-base percentage of .508 and 19 RBI, also hitting five doubles and one triple.
Westall, a senior pitcher from Breckenridge, Michgian, served as Alma's number one pitcher throughout the season. In conference play, she started eight games (six complete games), also making an appearance in relief. She carried a pitching record of 5-2, and an ERA of 2.66 over 50.0 innings pitched. She registered 43 strikeouts while allowing batters to hit just .251 against her.
Thomas, a senior infielder from Macomb, Michigan, has been the Alma mainstay at first base this season. In MIAA competition, she batted .388, with an on-base percentage of .464. She knocked in eight runs, and hit four doubles, also stealing four bases on five attempts.
The three bring the total number of All-MIAA selections in program history to 211, and the total number of All-MIAA selections under
Denny Griffin to 191.
