Tiffin, OH – Alma College Women's Wrestling opened their 2025-26 season on Saturday at the Tiffin open in Ohio. Alma saw two placers on the day.
Gabriella Allen won her first three matches of the day at 160 pounds. Allen opened with a win by fall over Elizabeth Reyes of the University of the Cumberlands, going on to defeat Lindsey Wilson's Mallory Ladd via a 10-6 decision. Her third straight win came in a 40 second win by fall over Point Park Unviersity's Payton Moyer. In the championship match, she was defeated via fall by Mia Gaetjens. Allen placed 2
nd in her class.
Shai Curtiss opened her season with a tech fall victory over Davenport's Lilyan Buyze, dropping her next bout to Otterbein's Morgan Leonhardt via tech fall. Curtiss went on to rip off four straight wins, scoring victories by fall over Anna March (Georgetown), Meredith Greenslade (Unattached), Sydney Bridenstine (Lindsey Wilson), and Molly Luebke (Mount Union). She was then defeated via fall by Lola Barkby of Indiana Tech, before ending her day with a tech fall loss to Abby Dicenzo of West Liberty. Curtiss placed 6
th in her class.
At 138,
Amelia Howell dropped her first bout by Tech Fall of Alaysia Coleman of Tiffin Universtiy, before beign pinned by Madison Small of Trine University.
Ava Pike lost her first match at 103 via tech fall of Indiana Tech's Zoey Haney, before bouncing back with a tech fall win over Rochester Christian's Gabriele Hotaj. She was then defeated by decision, dropping a 10-6 match to Selah Gitonga of Otterbein.
Wrestling at 160, Dawn DeGood was pinned by West Liberty's Isabelle Kessey, going on to defeat Brilynn Gemmer of Georgetown by fall just 53 seconds into the bout. Her day closed when she was pinned by Adrian's Paige Willman.
Madesyn Wheaton wrestled at 145, dropping her first match by tech fall to Genesis Gilmore of the Cumberlands, before dropping her second match of the day to Calynn Briesemeister.
At 110,
Mia Sharp lost an 8-2 decision to Havana Hampl of Lindsey Wilson, going on to lose to Reagan Thomas of Lindsey Wilson by tech fall.
Ryen Allen opened her day at 138 with a 10-6 decision loss to Annalis Ortez-Pierce. Allen went on to win a pair of bouts, pinning Aenaya Vines of Lindsey Wilson, and defeating Rochester Christian's Aleah Swilley by tech fall. Her day came to an end against Raegan Briggs of Otterbein.
At 131,
Sarah Callender dropped a 12-10 decision to Ilani Jones-Wallace of Mount Union to start her day. Callender responded with a win by fall over Sophia Renteria of Adrian College, going on to pin Aubree Kuhns of Indiana Tech in the second period. Her day came to an end via a tech fall loss to Georgetown's Jes'Onia Barefield.
Alma is back in action on Sunday, when they take part in the Albion College Open.
