Alma, MI - The Alma Men's Soccer team faced the Concordia University Cardinals in their 2023 home opener on Sunday September 3rd. The Scots showed their fight through out the game coming back from a goal down on separate occasions to achieve their second straight draw to open the season. 

The Cardinals opened up the scoring in the 21st minute, but less than 2 minutes later the Scots answered. Tatenda Mukudu redirected an Ethan Swartzentruber pass past the Concordia keeper to level the game 1-1. The Scots kept the pressure up throughout the rest of the first half which went into halftime, the score tied 1-1.

The Cardinals came out the gate scoring 6 minuets into the new half. In the 66th minute Ethan Vollstedt scored his first career collegiate goal to level the game at 2. A second yellow card to a Scots player shortly after resulted in a red card, and Alma being dropped to 10-men. That did not deter the Scots as they held on for the draw, and even created numerous scoring chances despite being down a player.

Men's Soccer will be back in action on Wednesday September 6th as the take on Cleary University away from home at 7:00 PM.
