Albion, MI – Alma College Women's Wrestling headed down to Albion College on Sunday to take part in the Albion College Invitational. The Scots tied for 6^th place with 48 team points.
 
At 101 pounds, MacKenzie Burger won her first match against Indiana Tech's Becca Waterman via tech fall at 12-2. She then lost to Albion's Gabriella Motz by decision at 10-9. In the consolation bracket, Burger met Brianna Richey of Dubuque, and dealt with her via a 10-0 tech fall to advance to the placement round. In the 3^rd place match, the freshman won over Hiram's Lexi Doerflinger 14-9 to take 3^rd place overall at 101 pounds.
 
Celeste Welch competed at 109 pounds. The freshman won a wild opening match at 17-16 over Mia Moore of Aurora. The 33 overall points, and 17 points, are the most in a single match in Alma College Women's Wrestling history. Welch was then dropped by Tehani Soares of Indiana Tech via tech fall, 10-0. In the consolation bracket, Welch lost to Sharla Juhas of Adrian College via tech fall at 18-7.
 
The pool at 130 pounds was just 4 wrestlers, which left Keegan Gonzales with 3 matches to determine her place. In her first match, she was defeated by Kendya Pierre-Louis of Indiana Tech via Fall. Gonzales then took on Marisa Moffitt of Indiana Tech, losing via Fall. In the third and final round, Gonzales was defeated via fall by Danielle Ruiz of Albion College. Keegan took 4^th in the weight class.
 
Jaclyn Dietz competed at 136 pounds. She was defeated by Madison Small of Trine University via Fall. In the consolation bracket, Dietz defeated Brooklyn Figueroa of Indiana Tech via injury forfeit. She was then defeated by Alexis Kelley of Indiana Tech.
 
At 155, Clara Holtry was defeated in the opening match by Jordan Palmer of John Carroll via tech fall at 12-2. Holtry then pinned Joelyn Tully to advance on the consolation bracket, where she met Maria Potrero of the GVSU Club Team, and defeated her via fall as well. She dispatched her next opponent, Elisa Cox of Adrian College, before losing to Hailey Budney of Trine, both by fall. Holtry won the 5^th place match against Nahomi Marmolejo of Adrian via fall.
 
At 170, Mairead Brock lost her first match to Meara Hayes of Lakeland University via fall. After receiving several byes in the consolation bracket, she was defeated by Libia Hernandez of Davenport University.
 
Madesyn Wheaton competed at 191 pounds. She was awarded the win over Salano Camacho of Albion College via forfeit in round 1. She then fell to Sydney Manos of Aurora via 11-0 teach fall. Her 3^rd round match was a win over Xsaria Puente of Adrian via fall. The fourth round was a loss to Albion's Logan Ryan, and the final round was a loss to Alexandra Collins of Indiana Tech, giving her 3^rd place.
 
Alma has some time off, before a November 30^th dual against Rochester on the road.
