Box Score 1 ALBION, Mich. – The Alma College softball team traveled to Albion College on Sunday, April 24 for a winning day, 4-1 and 0-9. The Scots are now 25-9 overall and 12-2 in conference play.
The first two innings of the first game were scoreless. The top of the third is when Alma took the lead off a single from Taylor Griffith (Grand Rapids, MI) to center field. Emma Fraser (Alpena, MI) then doubled for Griffith to advance to third. Chloe Deckrow (Grandville, MI) followed with a double to bring Griffith and Fraser to home plate, 2-0.
Alma added more runs to the board in the top of the fifth off a homer from Hannah Falejczyk (Manhattan, IL) to bring Hannah Solomon (Charlevoix, MI) home with her, 4-0.
The Britons grabbed their only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth off a single to left field for a final score of 4-1 in the Scots' favor.
Deckrow led the Scots with two hits and two RBI's while Fraser added two hits and one run. Pitcher Haley Ullrich (Elk River, MI) posted 10 strikeouts and only allowed three hits.
The second game was all Alma with eight runs in the first inning. Ullrich tripled to right field followed by two walks. Falejczyk then doubled to right field to advance Fraser to third allowing Griffith and Ullrich to put two runs on the board. Chloe Deckrow reached first off an error by second base for Falejczyk to find third and Fraser to score, 3-0. Hannah Fleming (Rogers City, MI) then doubled to right field, Deckrow grabbed third, and Falejczyk found home.
After a pitching change, Aynslee Koutz grabbed an RBI off a single to center field, Fleming advanced to third and Deckrow scored, unearned, 5-0. Jessica Eva (Morrice, MI) flied out to left field to bring Fleming home and Ullrich followed with a double for Koutz to score. Griffith singled to center field and Ullrich added a run to end the inning, 8-0.
The Scots found one more run off a single from Griffith to get her on base and a double from Falejczyk brought Griffith home for a final score of 9-0 at the end of the fifth inning.
Griffith and Ullrich each added two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Falejczyk had two hits, one run, and three RBI's. Pitcher Daniella Little posted three strikeouts and only allowed three hits.
Next, Alma heads to Trine University on Wednesday, April 27 for their next matchup.
