Box Score 1 ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alme College softball team traveled to Adrian College on Friday, April 22 for two more conference wins, 9-1 and 8-5. Alma is now 23-9 overall and 10-2 in MIAA-play.
The Scots started off the first inning with two singles from Haley Ullrich (Elk River, MN) and Emma Fraser (Alpena, MI). Hannah Falejczyk (Manhattan, IL) then gained two RBI's off a double to center field to bring Ullrich and Fraser home for a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the first with a double to add their only run of the game, 2-1.
The second inning was unanswered by both teams. Alma continued their lead in the top of the third with a double from Fraser for Ullrich to add another run, 3-1.
The fourth inning added four runs for the Scots starting with a single down the left field line from Aynslee Koutz (St. Louis, MI) for Hadyn Terwilliger (Mount Pleasant, MI) to find home. Danielle Dumoulin (Goodrich, MI) followed with a home run grabbing two RBI's. To end the fourth inning, Ullrich stole home while Fraser was caught stealing second base, 7-1.
To start the sixth inning, Dumuolin was walked, and Jessica Eva (Morrice, MI) was brought in to pinch hit. Ullrich then ended the game with a homer to bring herself and Eva to home plate for a final score of 9-1.
The Scots posted 12 hits to Adrian's three with Fraser contributing three. Ullrich, Falejczyk, and Dumoulin each added two RBI's. Ullrich pitched eight strikeouts and only allowed one run.
Adrian responded in the first inning of the second game with two runs off a single and an error by right field, 2-0. Alma matched the Bulldogs in the bottom of the first with a single from Falejczyk after Ullrich was walked and Fraser was hit by a pitch allowing Ullrich to add another run. Hannah Fleming (Rogers City, MI) then singled to left field to advance Falejczyk to third while Fraser found home plate, 2-2.
Alma took the edge over the Bulldogs in the bottom of the second with a groundball to second base from Taylor Griffith (Grand Rapids, MI) for Eva to advance to second and Koutz to add a run, 3-2. Fraser then singled up the middle for Eva to run home, 4-2.
Alma added one run in the bottom of the third with bases load off a single from Griffith to bring Terwilliger home, 5-2.
The fourth inning was led by Adrian with two runs off a groundball to second base and an error by the catcher, 5-4. Alma added one run to the board off an error from shortstop for Lakin Ex (Sterling, MI) to score unearned, 6-4.
Alma added the only runs of the fifth inning with two. Ullrich had another homer on the day and Griffith scored off a wild pitch, 8-4.
Adrian found an RBI single in the top of the seventh, but the game ended in the Scots' favor, 8-5.
Falejczyk led the second game with three hits and one RBI while Griffith added one hit and two RBI's. The Scots posted 10 hits to Adrian's seven and pitcher Daniella Little had seven strikeouts.
