Box Score 1 ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College softball team played Saint Mary's College on Friday, April 15 at home for two wins, 12-0 and 21-6, to improve to 6-2 in MIAA-play.
The first game was all Alma starting in the first inning with a homer from Haley Ullrich (Elk River, MN), 1-0.
The second inning added three more runs for the Scots with a single to center field from Jessica Eva(Morrice, MI) advancing Aynslee Koutz (St. Louis, MI) to third and bringing Hadyn Terwilliger (Mount Pleasant, MI) to home plate, 2-0. Ullrich gained an RBI off a single for Koutz to add a run to the board and Taylor Griffith (Grand Rapids, MI) doubled to left field for Ullrich to reach home, 4-0.
Alma picked up their scoring again in the bottom of the fourth with eight runs. Five Scots grabbed RBI hits with two from Emma Fraser (Alpena, MI) and Ullrich, and one from Griffith, Eva, Lakin Ex(Sterling, MI), and Hannah Fleming(Rogers City, MI).
The Scots ended the game in five innings for a final score of 12-0.
Ullrich led the first game with four hits, three runs, and four RBI's. Ullrich also added eight strikeouts and only allowed one hit. Griffith followed close behind with three hits, one run, and two RBI's.
Ullrich matched the start of the first game with another homer in the first inning, 1-0. Saint Mary's gained a run in the bottom o first off a single to bring a Belles runner in, 1-1.
The Scots put five runs on the board in the top of the second with a double from Ullrich to bring Terwilliger in for the run followed by a single from Griffith allowing Ullrich home. Fraser then doubled to centerfield for Griffith to score. Hannah Falejczyk (Manhattan, IL) ended the second inning with a homer to bring two runs in, 6-0.
Most of Alma's runs were scored in the third inning with seven. Koutz scored off a single from Griffith followed by a single from Falejczyk to bring two runs in. Fleming and Koutz each added another hit bringing runs in along with two walks to add unearned runs at the top of the third, 13-1.
The fourth inning added eight runs off a triple from Terwilliger to bring one run in, a double from Ullrich to add a run, and a grand slam from Danielle Dumoulin (Goodrich, MI). The Belles added a run in the bottom of the fourth off a double, 21-2.
The Belles added four more runs in the fifth inning for a final score of 21-6 in the Scots favor.
Ullrich also led the second game with three hits, three runs, and four RBI's. Falejczyk also had three hits, two runs, and four RBI's. Pitcher Danielle Little posted two strikeouts and allowed two runs.
