Box Score Holland, MI – Alma men's soccer closed out their season on the road at Hope on Tuesday night. Alma was defeated by a final score of 4-1.
The first half was a defensive one, with the rain helping to ensure that neither team could put a shot on net until very late on in the half. Unfortunately, the first shot on net came from the home side, and found its way in to give Hope a 1-0 lead. Alma struck back just before the half ended on a beautiful free kick from Jack Lockerbie. He took a free kick from about 20 yards out, and sent it bar down to level things at 1-1. Alma headed into the half tied with Hope.
Out of the half, Hope found momentum, and despite the best efforts of the Scots notched 3 goals in the opening 30 minutes to put things away. Lockerbie almost found another goal, clanking another close free kick off of the cross bar, but not into the goal.
Overall, the Scots were outshot 28-5 by Hope, with the Flying Dutchmen leading in shots on goal 10-1 as well.
Jack Lockerbie's 3rd goal of the season capped the scoring for Alma, and Chris Henry stopped 6 of 10 on the night.
Alma finishes their 2022 season at 3-11-1, with a 1-5-1 mark in MIAA play.
