Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Alma College softball team fell in their last game today at the MIAA Tournament hosted by Calvin University. The Scots lose a close one Friday that went 10 innings but came back and won the second which advanced them to today. Alma ends its 2021 campaign with a 23-15 overall record and 10-7 conference record.

Haley Ullrich pitched for the third time this week in her final game of the year against Calvin University. She pitched a total of 24 innings in the past two days and managed to stay under 10 runs all together.

Starting off the first inning of the game, the Knights of Calvin University scored the first 2 runs on the board. Ullrich came out swinging and homered into left field, which made the game 2-1.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth inning when Chloe Deckrow fired up the Scots with a single to third base. Then Hadyn Terwilliger came up and hit a single to centerfield and scored in a run for an RBI. The score was tied up 2-2 after that.

Unfortunately, the Knights were able to keep the Scots from scoring any further and racked up a few more runs by the seventh inning. The final score was 8-2 Knights.
