ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with Calvin University Monday at Bahlke Field in a conference matchup. Neither team scored throughout the first and second half. The game went into overtime where the Knights found the back of the net to win the game. 

Alma had its hands full against a Calvin team that outscored its opponents, 16-0, through the first three conference games of the season. But the Scots proved they were up for the task keeping the game tied throughout regulation. One of Alma's best chances came late in the first half when Ethan Vollstedt had breakaway on the left side of the field. The Calvin netminder stopped Vollstedt's shot howerver and the game remained 0-0 heading into halftime. 

The Knights would put the pressure on again in the second half but the Alma defense and goalie Chris Henry kept denying every opportunity. In the final minutes, Calvin sent multiple shots that were blocked by Alma defenders before the ball got to the net. 

The game went into the first sudden death overtime period. In the opening minute, a Calvin played found some open space in front and sent a shot that hit the back of the net on the lower left side.

Henry made five saves in net in his first ever appearance for the Scots. Vollstedt, Andre Masse, Hunter Nash, and Connor McCain all recorded shots for Alma. 

The Scots will head to Hope College on Thursday, April 8th for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
