Story By Hannah Evans, Sports Information Student Worker

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College softball team beat Albion College and Olivet College on Friday at Scots Park. These games did not count for the MIAA conference standings.

For the start of the first game against Olivet, the Comets started off with the first run of the day in the top of the 1st. Scots kicked it off with a walked in run, unearned, and made the game 1-1. Daniella Little fired up the Scots with a single and brought in two more runs. The score was 3-1, until Erin Ezell dropped a single into center field and scored two more runs and made the game 5-1.

Scots continued at the plate in the bottom of the second with a hit by Hannah Falejczyk and scored another run; game was 6-1. Hannah Solomon singled as well to left center and scored in another run for the Scots and then reached home on an error by the short stop with a hard hit from Haley Ullrich. Score was 8-1 at the end of the inning.

For the top of the fourth, Olivet answered back and brought the score 8-3. Falejczyk swung for the fences with a homer and brought the score 9-1. Ezell followed in her teammates footsteps and homered as well and made the game 12-3.

Hadyn Terwilliger stayed fired up at the plate and brought in another run for the Scots. Lastly, Brooke Wells was able to steal home on a wild pitch and make the game 14-3. The Scots were able to shut down the Comets at the plate and mercied them in fifth for the win.

The second game for the Scots started off with a homer by Albion in the bottom of the second for the first run of the game. Ullrich answered back with a homerun of her own to tie up the game in the top of the third. Not only did the Scots work the plate, but Wells and Danielle Dumoulin were able to turn a double play to keep them in the game.

Then the Scots took the lead in the top of the fifth with a double from Wells and brought the game to a close 2-1. Terwillger stepped up to the plate and singled. She scored another run for the Scots to increase the lead 3-1.

Ezell was able to increase the lead even more for the Scots with a single and brought in two more runs: game was 5-1. The Brits fought back in the bottom of the seventh to no avail and finished out the game 5-3.

Scots are at home for their next double header on Saturday, April 24th against Albion. The first game starts at 1 pm and the second is to follow after.
