The Scots hosts tripleheader

ALMA, MICH. - The Alma College softball team hosted Calvin University and St's Mary University for a tripleheader. Alma won the first game against Calvin, 9-4. Calvin won against St. Mary's University, 5-4 and Alma lost to St. Mary's University, 4-3. 

In the first game, Calvin University (6-2, 1-1 MIAA) started scoring early into a game with three runs scored. Alma (10-4, 2-0 MIAA) really hit their stride in the bottom of the 4th with a huge triple from Haley Ullrich, she earned her first RBI by brining Taylor Griffith in for a run. Then Chloe Deckrow followed that up by bringing in Ullrich for a run. In the bottom of the 5th, Grand Rapids native Griffith doubled and brought in Aynslee Koutz for a run. 

The 6th inning was where the Scots cemented their win, with 6 runs scored. The first run came from Hadyn Terwilliger who singled with base loaded to bring in Hannah Fleming. Ullrich doubled, bringing in Taylor Griffith and Aynslee Koutz

On the mound, Ullrich pitched all seven innings and struck out 6 batters. 

Mount Pleasant native Terwilliger, Koutz, Griffith (2), Ullrich (2) and Chloe Deckrow all earned RBIs.

Elk River native Ullrich was the only player to hit a triple. 

In the second game, Alma scored the first run with Hannah Cambe singling to bring in Griffith for a run in the 2nd inning. St. Mary's (2-2, 1-1 MIAA) answered that by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 4th. Emma Fraser grounded out to second base, advancing Cambe to second, and Ullrich came in for the run. 

Sophomore Fraser, Terwilliger and Cambe each earned an RBI.  

On the mound, Lakin Fryzel pitched three innings and struck out two. Daniella Little pitched the final three innings and struck out one. 

Up next for the Scots, they will play in another triple header with Olivet College and Trine University in Olivet, Michigan. They will play the first game at 2:00pm against Trine. Following shortly after they will play Olivet.
