The Scots split the series with Manchester

N. MANCHESTER, IND - The Alma College Softball Team faced off with Manchester University, splitting the series, 1-1. The Scots won the first game 6-0 and dropped the second one 5-3. The Scots are now 3-3, Manchester, who were playing their first game of the season are now 1-1. 

In the first game, Emma Fraser led Alma with two RBIs. There were two RBIs total for the Scots, including one from Hannah Fleming, Hadyn Terwilliger, Haley Ullrich and Taylor Griffith. Aynslee Koutz led the team with two doubles. Ullrich had the only triple of the night, which led to her RBI bringing in Chloe Deckrow to score.  The Scots had 30 at bats in total with one third resulting in hits. Hannah Solomon stole the only base of the game. 

 

In the fourth inning, Emma Fraser hit a homer earning her the second of her RBIs. The first coming in the second inning with a single out to right center, bringing Solomon in. 

 

In the sixth inning Fleming grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Jessica Eva to advance to second, and Hannah Solomon to score. 

 

The six runs were scored by Solomon, Koutz, Emma Fraser, and Deckrow. Solomon and Fraser each scored 2 runs for the Scots. 

 

On the mound, Ullrich pitched seven innings, allowed three hits, and no runs. She struck out seven during the game. 

 

In the second game, the Scots took an early lead after scoring in the second inning, Chloe Deckrow hit a fly ball out to right field and Koutz was able to score a run. They scored again in the third inning with Fleming grounding out to the shortstop to leave it open for Fraser to score a run. Alma allowed Manchester to score two runs in the fourth inning and just could not keep Manchester from scoring. 

 

In the fifth inning, Terwilliger singled up the middle, made it to second base and then Fraser scored. The game concluded in the sixth inning due to darkness. 

 

On the mound, Fraser and Daniella Little faced 25 batters in total. Fraser pitched four innings and struck out 3. Little pitched one inning and struck out 2. 

 

Up next for the Scots, is a doubleheader against Anderson University on Saturday, March 13th. The first game begins at 1pm. The links for video and live stats are provided on the website.
