Box Score 2 PINEVILLE, La. – The Alma College baseball team finished their trip down to Louisiana College by splitting a doubleheader with the Wildcats on Sunday (Feb. 7). Louisiana won game one, 10-4, while the Scots earned their first win of the season with a 5-3 victory in game two. Alma is now 1-3 on the season.
In game one, Kevin Tuttle went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI while Joshua Robinson hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jayden Drake struck out seven batters through five innings while Cam Jones struck out three in his one inning on the mound.
In game two, Jaret Koin got the scoring going with a two-run home run in the third inning. The Scots continued to show their power with a home runs from Avery Carnicom and Alex Dwan in the fourth to make it 4-1 in favor of the Scots. Carnicom then drove Koin in on a two-out single to make it 5-1.
After the Wildcats made it a two-run game in the sixth, Ty Sobczak came in to close out the game in the seventh. The junior got the first two batters out and then after allowing the tying run on, Sobczak got a Louisiana batter to go down swinging to earn the save and give Alma the win.
Aaron Saenz earned the win on the mound for the Scots with six innings pitching while giving up zero earned runs. Carnicom and Dwan each had multi-hit games.
The Scots have the next month off before they head to Wabash College on March 6 for a weekend series.
