Box Score ALBION, Mich. — The Alma College Men's Soccer team lost a close match on the road against Albion College on Wednesday, Oct. 13, by a score of 1-0.
"I was proud of the fight the team showed last night. We felt like we did enough to put ourselves in a good position to get a result but failed to convert our chances," Head Coach John Greer said.
The first half of the game was highlighted by defense and featured no goals. Albion found an opening in the net at the 62-minute mark to put the Britons up, 1-0. where they would remain for the rest of the game. The Scots had six shots on goal and goalie Jose Vicario had five saves in the net.
"Seniors Danten McFate and Jarod Arendsen created some good opportunities, along with freshman Ethan Swartzentruber. The defense played well and handled just about everything that was thrown at them. It is always frustrating to drop a game on a penalty kick, but we have a lot to take from the performance," Coach Greer said.
The team hosts the MIAA Fall Final on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16 at PohlCat Golf Course.
