The Beavers came back with four runs in the top of the sixth and held the lead despite Alma getting to within one run in the seventh.

How It Happened

Game 1 - Bluffton 10, at Alma 9
  • After Bluffton's Sydney Bowen reached base, Caylin Marstadt hit a home run to begin the scoring. The Beavers would plate three more runs in the inning off starter Haley Ullrich (Elk River, Minn. / Elk River).
  • After Bluffton earned another run in the top of the second to make it 6-0, Chapman hit a shot to left field, scoring Madyson Piche (Sault Sainte Marie, Mich. / Sault Area) and Kaylee Martin (North Branch, Mich. / North Branch) and cutting the deficit in half.
  • The Scots picked up another run in the fourth inning when Cassidy Tucker (Coleman, Mich. / Coleman) singled home Kennedy Koenigsknecht (Fowler, Mich. / Fowler), who pinch ran for Morgan Trout (Otisville, Mich. / Lakeville). In the fifth, Terwilliger hit a deep ball over the Bluffton center fielder's head to score Piche and Morgan Dubay (Merrill, Mich. / Merrill). Terwilliger scored on a sacrifice fly from Trout to give Alma its first lead of the game at 7-6.
  • Bluffton came back with four unearned runs in the sixth to take a 10-6 lead. Kelsey Reeder doubled home two runs but was thrown out by Tucker to end the inning while trying to reach third.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Alma's first three batters reached base by way of two singles and a walk. Trout also worked a walk to plate Piche from third. Hannah Cambe (Demotte, Ind. / Kankakee Valley) followed with a sacrifice fly to score Terwilliger and make it 10-9. Tucker, the next batter, lined out to shortstop and Trout was doubled up on second base to end the game.
Game 2 - at Alma 9, Bluffton 1 (6 innings)
  • The Beavers again got on the board in the first inning, but with only one run this time. After allowing the one run on two hits, two walks and one wild pitch, Hamm settled in with a strikeout and short groundout to second base to end the inning.
  • Alma managed one hit in each of the first four innings before it broke the game open in the fifth. Tucker and Chelsea Schweiger (St. Clair, Mich. / St. Clair) both singled to begin the inning and Hadyn Terwilliger (Mount Pleasant, Mich. / Sacred Heart Academy) drove them both in with a double to center field. Two batters later, Riley Terwilliger mimicked her sister with a two-RBI double of her own. Martin followed with a triple to right-center field to score Riley and after Trout worked a walk, Chapman drove both her and Martin home with a double. Tucker ended the scoring with an RBI single as the Scots batted around in the inning.
  • Hadyn Terwilliger led off the seventh inning with a single to left-center field and Piche sacrificed herself to get her to second. Riley Terwilliger grounded out to first base on the next play, allowing Hadyn to get to third. She would score on a wild pitch to end the game.
