How It Happened

Game 1 - Alma 11, Johnson & Wales 0 (6 innings)
  • The Scots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Tucker drew a walk to lead off and Martin drove her home with a triple to center field. She scored, herself, on a Bry Chapman (Holt, Mich. / Holt) single.
  • After three scoreless innings, Alma picked up four more runs in the fifth. With the bases loaded and no one out, Creed doubled to left field, clearing the bases. Kendall Bird (Holt, Mich. / Holt) pinch ran for her and scored on a Terwilliger single.
  • The Scots loaded the bases again in the sixth after two singles and a walk. Chapman drew a walk to score Schweiger and Terwilliger followed with a grand slam to make it 11-0.
  • Johnson & Wales got runners to second and third in the bottom half of the sixth but couldn't bring them home. Ten Wildcats reached base against Crisenbery but the freshman kept the scoreboard clean. She left all 10 runners stranded over six innings, seven of which were in scoring position.
Game 2 - Cabrini 0, Alma 1
  • The Scots could only muster one run in the second game of the day, but that was all they needed. Three straight singles in the first inning from Schweiger, Creed and Martin scored Schweiger from second. Alma left the bases loaded to end the inning.
  • The Scots again loaded the bases in the fourth but failed to score, popping up twice.
  • Ullrich allowed just two runners to reach second base in the game but didn't allow them to get any further. She put the Cavaliers down 1-2-3 in the seventh to end the game.
