Softball Stats Season with Pair of One-Run Losses

Clermont, Fla. - The Alma College softball team dropped a pair of one-run games on Sunday (Feb. 24), 10-9 to St. Mary's College (MN) and 2-1 to Augustana College (IL).

Jazmine Hamm (Byron Center, Mich. / Byron Center) struck out nine batters over six innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits against the Cardinals, while MacKenzie Creed (Edwardsburg, Mich. / Edwardsburg) hit her tenth career home run in the third inning. Alma led 9-6 going into the bottom of the seventh, but St. Mary's scored four runs in the final half inning to win.

In game two, Alma jumped out to a 1-0 after Cassidy Tucker (Coleman, Mich. / Coleman) scored on a single from Kaylee Martin (North Branch, Mich. / North Branch) in the first inning. The Vikings would tie the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly, then take the lead in the sixth on a fielder's choice. Skylar Crisenbery (Watervliet, Mich. / Coloma) pitched the whole game; she allowed six hits in seven innings and struck out three batters.

The Scots return to action on Monday (Feb. 25) when they face Hanover and Capital.
