Box Score Holland, Mich. - The Alma College men's soccer team fell 6-1 to Hope College on Wednesday (Oct. 17) evening.
Junior goalkeeper Garrison Mast (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven) made a career-high 16 saves in the Alma (5-8, 2-3 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) loss. Junior midfielder Torsten Holland (Okemos, Mich. / Haslett) scored his second-career goal on a penalty kick in the 78th minute after a handball in the box by Hope.
The Flying Dutch (13-1-1, 3-1-1 MIAA) scored five of their six goals in the first half. Christian Dault and Logan Bylsma each scored twice.
How It Happened
- James Raymann scored in the seventh minute of the game. Dault and Bylsma went back-to-back twice midway through the first half, scoring within three minutes of one another the second time around. Isaac Braak added Hope final goal in the 56th minute.
- Holland scored his second goal of the season in the 78th minute. The Flying Dutchmen were called for a handball in the box, one of their 14 fouls in the game. Holland put away the resulting penalty kick for his first goal since Sept. 15 against Transylvania.
Notables
- Garrison Mast's 16 saves were the most in a game by any MIAA goalkeeper this year. The next-most is 11 saves by Adrian's Spencer Brown with 11.
- Mast has the second-most saves in the MIAA (57) and the third-highest save percentage (.740).
- Logan Bylsma has 11 goals this season, tied for the third most in the conference this year. Christian Dault has six goals, tied (with Kyle Farmer (Greenville, Mich. / Greenville), among others) for ninth.
