Alma, Mich. - The No. 23 nationally ranked Alma College softball team swept Adrian in its final home series of the regular season on Thursday afternoon. Senior Morgan Stratton (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) picked up the win in both games, striking out 12 batters in game one and 11 in game two. Twelve strikeouts is a new season-high for Stratton and one shy of her career best. She is coming off pitching a no-hitter on Monday at Manchester.

The game was Alma's Pink Game, in which the program honored sophomore Riley Terwilliger's (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Sacred Heart Academy) mother, Denise, who passed from cancer on March 19.

The Scots (24-6, 13-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) won game two 1-0 behind Danielle Service's (Mason, Mich./Mason) eighth home run of the year. She is now tied for third in the conference in that category. Service is also first in slugging percentage (.742), fifth in both batting average (.419) and total bases (69), and sixth in on-base percentage (.455) in the conference.

Alma took game one 5-1. Anna Couture (Posen, Mich./Posen) had a pair of RBI to bookend the scoring for the Scots. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the third, she doubled to center field, scoring Erin Lee (Commerce, Mich./Walled Lake Northern) from first base. In the bottom of the sixth, she added an insurance run with a single to center, bringing home Terwilliger from third. Couture has 17 RBI on the year and leads the team with 10 doubles.

Service tacked on three RBI in game one when, with the bases loaded, she ripped a double to left-center field, clearing the bases.

Alma sits in first place in the conference with one series remaining in the regular season. Its final doubleheader is at Hope on Saturday, April 29. The Flying Dutch are second in the MIAA, two games behind the Scots. The regular season MIAA Championship is on the line. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
