Box Score Alma, Mich. - The Alma College men's soccer team had its two-match winning streak snapped on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon, falling by a 1-0 margin to Kalamazoo College on a rainy day at Scotland Yard.
The Hornets (6-5-2 overall, 5-3-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) scored in the 80th minute to complete the series sweep of the Scots (2-9-3, 2-6-2 MIAA). Both contests were decided by 1-0 scores.
Sophomore Garrison Mast (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) made two saves for Alma while Griffin Hamel stopped all four scoring chances he faced in net for Kalamazoo. Sophomore Noah Canlas (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) led the Scots with six total shots.
How It Happened
- Ryan Melgar scored in the 80th minute to break the scoreless tie, heading the ball in after a pass from the end line. The goal came just over a minute after Noah Canlas hit the post with a shot.
