Alma, Mich. – Senior Austin Gabris (Spring Lake, Mich.) broke a scoreless tie in the 85th minute with his second career goal as the Alma College men's soccer team defeated Central College at Scotland Yard on Saturday afternoon.

Gabris led the Scots (2-0-0, 0-0-0 MIAA) with five shots, three of them on goal. Overall, Alma was outshot 19-9, but keeper Nick Strait (Jenison, Mich.) made a career high 12 saves in the contest. Freshman Hebren Hein (Jackson, Mich.) was the second leading shot-taker for Alma with two shots, both on goal. Miguel Pina led Central (0-1-0, 0-0-0 IIAC) in shots with six and two on goal, while Salvador Villanueva posted four shots and three on goal, but they could not get one past Strait in net.

The Scots return to action Tuesday, September 6 when they travel to Aquinas to face the Saints at 7:00 p.m. for the first of three road games during the week.
