Men's Soccer Suffers Second Loss of Year at Albion

Albion, Mich. - In a game that saw four yellow cards handed out, the Alma College men's soccer team lost just its second game of the year 2-0 at Albion College on Saturday afternoon. The only Scot to receive a yellow card was Austin Gabris (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) in the 52nd minute. Three yellow cards had previously been given out - one in the 40th minute and two in the 51st minute.

Saturday's game was the first time the Scots (6-2-1, 2-1-1 MIAA) allowed more than one goal in a game. Despite the loss, Alma still leads the conference in goals allowed (4) and goals-against average (0.43). In addition, keeper Nick Strait (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) remains the conference leader in saves (57), save percentage (.934), goals against (4) and goals-against average (0.49).

Alma was outshot by Albion (4-4, 3-1 MIAA) 14-6 overall and five to three in shots on goal. Kyle Kansman (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led the team from a defensive position with two shots on the day. The Britons' goals came from Steven Lockhart in the 24th minute and Bobby Budlong in the 63rd minute. Budlong also received a yellow card in the match. There were 23 fouls called in the game.

The Scots' next match is on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Scotland Yard. They will host Calvin College at 4 p.m.
