Senior keeper Nick Strait (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) allowed just his second goal of the year in the 51st minute on a penalty kick. Despite this, he still leads the conference in goals against (two), goals against average (0.28), saves (54) and save percentage (.964).
Alma was outshot by Olivet (1-7-1, 1-1-1 MIAA) 28-10, though only seven shots from the Comets were on goal. Conversely, six of the Scots' 10 shots were on goal.
Alma will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Albion College to take on the Britons at 2:30 p.m.
Quotes
Head Coach Josh Oakley
"The Olivet team we played today was a good team. Perhaps much better than us in a lot of facets. We got a clutch effort out of a freshman, and our team found a way to grind out a win. Three points are three points any way you choose to calculate them."
