Alma fell to Trine in final regular season game, 2-0

Angola, Ind. - The Alma College men's soccer team hit the road this Saturday (Oct. 31) to take on the Thunder of Trine University. Alma entered the match 11-6-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).  Trine entered today with an overall record of 8-11-1 and 5-9 in the MIAA.

The Scots got off to a rocky start in the first half, allowing a 15th minute goal by Trine's Kenny Rappuhn. Alma was outshot in the first half 9-5, but collected a pair of corner kicks. Later into the match, Trine's JT Plavchak found the back of the net for the Thunder's second goal of the game in the 62nd minute. Sophomore Avery McGroarty (Ovid, Mich./Ovid Elsie) led the attack for the Scots with two shots and one being on net. 

After securing a three seed in the conference playoffs, the Scots will be back in action next Wednesday (Nov. 4) where they will travel down to Kalamazoo to take on the second seed Hornets of Kalamazoo College. The kickoff time is to be announced.

Alma ends their regular season quest with an overall record of 11-7-1 and 8-6-1 in conference play.
