Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Alma College men's soccer team traveled to Grand Rapids, Mich. to take on Calvin College who entered the day number one in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) at 9-0. The Scots dropped to Calvin 2-0 on the afternoon as Alma's record dropped to 9-4-1 on the 2015 season and 6-3-1 in conference play, while Calvin advanced to 14-0-1 overall and 10-0 in the MIAA.
Both of Calvin's goals came in the first half. A header off of a cross put Calvin on the board in the 12th minute than again late in the half at the 42nd minute mark on a shot from inside the box.
Alma finished the day with 10 shots to Calvin's 19 while two of the Alma shots were on goal. Junior Kyle Kansman (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) and senior John Ulrich (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) both notched the only shots on goal for the Scots.
Junior Nick Strait (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) was in goal for the Scots while his record dropped to 9-3-1 on the season.
The Scots will return to Scotland Yard on Tuesday, October 20, hosting Adrian College at 4:00 p.m. The last time the Scots met with the Bulldogs, Alma defeated Adrian 2-1 in double overtime.
