On Sunday evening, the Alma College Men's Soccer team played host Illinois Wesleyan University in their second game of the Clash of the Titans Tournament in Bloomington, Illinois. The Scots lost to the Titans by a score of 1-0 in a tightly played contest.

With the defeat, Alma is now 1-1-2 on the 2014 season, while the Titans improved to 2-2-0 for the current campaign. The Scots are now off until September 17, when they will host Calvin College in their MIAA opener.

After a scoreless first half, the Titans notched the only goal of the contest at 82:29 when Colin Rathe was able to get a shot past Alma So. GK Nick Strait (Jenison/Jenison). That would prove to be all that the home team would need to secure the 1-0 victory.

For the game, the Illinois Wesleyan outshot the Scots by a margin of 16-13, but Alma had an eight to six advantage in shots on goal. Jr. M/F Julian Birge (East Lansing/East Lansing) paced Alma with three total shots and two on goal. Six other Scots each had one shot goal. Strait finished the game with five saves in net.
