Things got chippy early in the first half, with a total of six fouls being called between the two teams in the first 19 minutes. At 22:36, an Alma foul led to a penalty kick which resulted in the Eagles taking the first lead of the game 1-0.

Benedictine would find the back of the net again less than five minutes later to extend the deficit to 2-1 and the 27:21 mark.

The remainder of the first half would be fought to a stalemate, with the Eagles holding on to the 2-0 lead after the first 45 minutes.

The second half proved to be as close as the first and the score remained 2-0 after 82-plus minutes. Alma would finally get on the board following an own goal at 84:37 to cut the deficit to 2-1.

With less than five minutes remaining the regulation, Fr. M/F Sam Falardeau (Mason/Mason) would find a streaking Jr. F Spencer Sandow (Midland/Midland) who chipped it over the head of the Eagles goalie to tie the score at 2-2.

Both teams recorded one shot each in the final minutes of the half but the score read 2-2 at the end of regulation.

The Scots kept the pressure up in the extra period, recording three shots to Benedictine's zero. Alma was unable to convert on any of those shots however, and teams ended the first overtime knotted at 2-2.

The Eagles were the only team to record a shot in the second overtime and the game ended in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Sandow recorded the only Alma goal in the match, with Falardeau collecting the lone assist.

In goal, Sr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) goes to 0-0-2 on the year after allowing two goals on two shots on goal.
