On Saturday afternoon, the Alma College Men's Soccer team traveled down to Angola, IN to take on Trine University in an MIAA match up. The Scots scored early in the first half and was able to hold the lead for a 1-0 victory over Trine University.

With the victory, the Scots improved to 3-3-2 overall and 2-2 in the MIAA, while Trine dropped to 3-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA.

The one and only goal of the game was scored by Jr. M Chad Buitenhuis (Grand Haven/Grand Haven) at the 10:10 minute mark in the first half and was unassisted. Little did anyone know at the time, but the score would remain 1-0 for the rest of the game.

Alma led overall with twelve total shots and tallied a total of three shots on goal, while notched 10 shots and three on net. The Scots notched a total of ten corner kicks to Trine's one.

Scots So. GK Nick Strait (Jenison/Jenison) had three saves, earning the win. With the shots spread across the board, Jr. M Chad Buitenhuis (Grand Haven/Grand Haven), Jr. F Zach Vandeveer (Elk Rapids/Elk Rapids), Jr. M Matt Sovis (Williamston/Williamston) and So. D Kyle Kansman (Farmington Hills/North Farmington) all recorded two shots a piece. Jr. F Spencer Sandow (Midland/Midland) tacked on one shot for the Scots.

The Scots host Kalamazoo College on Wednesday afternoon home at Scotland Yard. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
