Box Score On Saturday afternoon, after the women's game, the Alma College Men's Soccer team continued their MIAA play at Scotland Yard against the visiting Albion Britons. The Scots battled throughout, but fell to the Britons by a score of 1-0 after a late goal in the second half.
With the loss, the Scots ended the day with an overall record of 1-3-2 overall and 0-2 in the MIAA, while Albion improved their mark to 4-3 in 2014 and 2-0 in the league.
Both teams put pressure on but the match remained scoreless late into the second half, when Albion finally scored at the 88:46 mark to seize the victory.
In goal, Sr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) ended the afternoon with three saves, but received the loss after allowing the lone goal in the 89th minute.
So. M Austin Gabris (Spring Lake/Spring Lake) led the Scots in shots, notching a total of five, including one on goal. Sr. MF Michael Smith (Saginaw/Nouvel Catholic Central), Jr MF Julian Birge (East Lansing/East Lansing) and Fr. D Jon Buitenhuis (Grand Haven/Grand Haven) each contributed two shots a piece.
The Scots hit the road on Tuesday, September 23, when they travel to Olivet to take on the Comets in a 4:00 p.m. match
