The Alma College Men's Soccer team scored a goal in the second overtime period to defeat Adrian College on the road on Tuesday afternoon 2-1. With the win, the Scots improved to 4-4-2 and 3-4 in the MIAA, while the Bulldogs are 4-7-1 in 2014 and 1-5-1 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, Alma took a 1-0 lead at the 62:09 mark when Fr. M Evan Shirkey (Howell/Howell) scored on an assist from Jr. F Zach Vandeveer (Elk Rapids/Elk Rapids). Adrian tied it at 1-1 when Shayan Shushtari scored for the Bulldogs at 78:18.

That goal would send the two teams into overtime deadlocked at 1-1 and the score remained that way into the second extra frame.

Then, at 100:31, Jr. M Matt Sovis (Williamston/Williamston) scored off a cross from Shirkey and the Scots had the dramatic one-goal victory.

The Scots had eight shots on goal to Adrian's three and Sr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) made two saves in net to earn the victory.

Alma continues their season on Saturday when they travel to Grand Rapids to take on Calvin College in a MIAA match which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
