Box Score The Alma College Men's Soccer team traveled down to Grand Rapids to take on Calvin College in another MIAA matchup Saturday afternoon, and the Scots fell 4-0 on the road to the Knights.
After the loss, Alma drops to 4-6-2 overall on the season and 3-5 in the MIAA conference. After the win, Calvin improved their record to 11-2-0 in 2014 and 8-0 in the MIAA.
The first half of the match went scoreless, but the Knights took advantage in the second half scoring four goals. At 54:48, the first goal of the game was scored bringing it to 1-0. Shortly after, the Knights would strike again at the 61:16 mark, to stretch the lead to 2-0.
Less than five minutes later, at 66:18, the Knights found the back of the net again and stretched their lead to 3-0.
Calvin kept the pressure going and they scored their final goal at the 83:17 mark to bring the game to close out the scoring and finish with a final margin of victory of 4-0. Jr. F Zach Vandeveer (Elk Rapids/Elk Rapids) led the Scots with two total shots and one shot on goal.
So. F Tyler Raab (Mason/Mason) and Sr. M/F Joonas Kotka (Tallinn, Estonia/Gustau Adolf Grammar School) both had single shots on goal.
In goal, Sr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley) (1-3-2) got the loss after allowing the four goals on eight shots on goal in the 90:00 minutes played.
The Scots are on the road again on Wednesday, October 15, when they travel to Albion College to take on the Britons at 4:00 p.m.
