Alma Men's Soccer falls to Trine 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon

The Alma Men's Soccer team took the trip down to Angola, Ind., on Wednesday afternoon to take on Trine University in a MIAA contest. The home team Thunder scored two second half goals en route to a 2-0 league victory. With the loss, the Scots are now 0-2 in the MIAA and 3-4 overall, while Trine improved to 2-0 in the league and 6-0-1 in 2011.

After a scoreless first half, Trine connected at 56:55, when Foster Webb got a ball past Alma Fr. GK Quinn Kemerer (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy) for a 1-0 lead. At 87:00, the Thunder got the final tally of the game when Sean Sullivan beat Kemerer for the 2-0 advantage and the win.

Overall for the game, Trine had 12 shots (four shots on goal), while Alma had 11 shots (three shots on goal). Fr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) had two saves for the Scots in the first half.

The three shots on goal for Alma came from Sr. M Cameron Alman (Troy, Mich./Troy Athens), Fr. CB David Gettel (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) and Fr. M Brandon Aldridge (Chesaning, Mich./Chesaning)

The Scots will continue play on Saturday, when they host Olivet College at Scotland Yard, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
