The Alma Softball team hit the road on Tuesday to take on Anderson University in Indiana and took two games from the host Ravens. The Scots won the first game by a 5-4 margin, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh, and then took the nightcap, 9-0.

In game one, the Scots scored two runs in the top of the first inning and added another in the top of the second, for an early 3-0 advantage. Alma Sr. P Tara Leddy (Saginaw, MI/Swan Valley) was cruising along until the host Ravens scored four runs on three hits, including two homeruns, in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-3 lead.

Alma staged a comeback in the top of the seventh inning, as the visitors scored two runs, and then held on for the 5-4 victory. Jr. 2B Erin Pintek (Flushing, MI/Flushing) had the crucial double that scored pinch runner Fr. Chanler McCaskey (Morenci, MI/Morenci) for the eventual game-winning run.

The second game proved to be a bit easier for the Scots, as they scored four runs in the first two innings and parlayed that into a relatively comfortable 9-0 win, to improve to 17-2 on the 2011 season.

So. P Louise Rezmer (Essexville, MI/Bay City All Saints) was the big leader of the nightcap, as she pitched a complete game three-hitter, gaining the shutout, while allowing just one walk with 11 strikeouts. In addition, Rezmer knocked out a home-run to help her secure the victory.

Offensively, Jr. C Becca DeWyse (Bay City, MI/Bay City All Saints) went three for five, with three runs batted in, and So. DP Erin Roder (Plymouth, MI/Plymouth) added a sole homer for the visitors.

Alma is next scheduled to play at home on Saturday, when they host MIAA foe Saint Mary's at Scots Park. First pitch is on track for 1:00 p.m.
