Scots Softball takes two games from Bluffton on Thursday, 11-4 and 12-1

On Thursday, the Scots' Softball played Bluffton University in a doubleheader at Scots Park defeating the Beavers in both by scores of 11-4 and 12-1 respectively. The games were a make-up of the postponed Wednesday games against the Beavers.

Alma improved to 11-2 on the 2011 season, while Bluffton now stands at 7-4 on the year. The Scots take on Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. They follow that up with two games on Sunday at Hiram (OH) College, also beginning at 1:00 p.m.

In the first game, the Scots scored five runs in each of the first two innings to take a commanding 10-0 advantage. The highlight of the two frames was the Scots' first home-run of the season, supplied by Jr. 2B/DP Erin Pintek (Flushing, MI/Flushing), who crushed a two-run shot in the first inning.

Sr. P Tara Leddy (Saginaw, MI/Swan Valley) pitched a complete game, giving up three earned runs in the 11-4 victory, improving her season record to 6-0. On the hitting side, Jr. SS Lauren Davis (Marysville, MI/Marysville) led the Scots with three RBI's, while five other players had two hits a piece in the win.

Game two started with Bluffton hitting a solo home-run to start the game against Alma starting P Brittany Grys (Portland, MI/Portland) for an early 1-0 lead. However, the deficit was short-lived as the Scots responded on their way to the five-inning 12-1 victory.

Jr. 1B Emily Ross (Buchanan, MI/Buchanan) went three for four with two runs scored and two RBI's for the Scots, while Pintek was two for three with two RBI's. Grys settled down after the initial hit and finished strong, giving up just three hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and no walks.
