Scots Men's Soccer falls at Kalamazoo 2-1

The Alma Men's Soccer team hit the road on Tuesday to take on host Kalamazoo College in a MIAA tilt. The Hornets defeated the Scots by a score of 2-1, dropping Alma to 2-8-2 in the MIAA and 5-9-2 overall, while Kalamazoo improved to 3-9 in the league and 5-11-1 in 2011.

Kalamazoo scored two first half goals to take command of the game, with one of them coming very early. Dagan Hammar scored at 5:16 on an assist from Phil Jackson for a 1-0 lead, while David Morris scored unassisted at 22:22 to give the Hornets the two-goal advantage at halftime.

Eric Foster scored the line goal for the Scots on Tuesday and finished with three shots

The Scots scored the only goal of the second half, when Sr. M/F Eric Foster (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) put in a penalty kick at 53:27 to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, the visitors could not get another shot into the net and fell by that margin as time ran out.

So. GK Graham Wallace (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) had 11 saves for the Scots, who next play on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
