Scots Men's Soccer falls to visiting Thunder, 3-0

The Alma College Men's Soccer team hosted Trine University on Saturday afternoon for Homecoming 2011 at Scotland Yard. Under cool and blustery conditions, the Scots dropped a 3-0 decision to the Thunder to fall to 5-8-1 in 2011 and 2-6-1 in the league. Trine is now 10-2-2 overall and improved to 6-2-1 in the MIAA.

Trine scored early and late in this contest, notching the lone first half tally at 9:30, when Andre Hilson scored on an assist from Foster Webb for a 1-0 halftime advantage. The score remained that way until 87:58, when Hilson scored his second goal of the game on a helper from Karston Shephard. The Thunder concluded the scoring less than two minutes later, when Webb knocked in a pass from Hilson at 89:34 for the final 3-0 margin of victory.

The Scots had seven shots on goal against Trine GK Nick Thon, the MIAA's leading goalkeeper, but came up empty. Jr. M/D Matt Kuberski (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) had six shots (two on goal) against Thon, while Sr. M/F Cameron Alman (Troy, Mich./Athens) also had two shots on goal for the Scots.  

In net for Alma on Saturday afternoon, So. GK Graham Wallace (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) stopped six shots, while Fr. GK Brett Galloway (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) had three saves.

Alma is in action again on Wednesday, when they travel to Olivet to take on the Comets in an MIAA game. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
