Box Score

The Alma College Men's Soccer team enjoyed a rarity on Tuesday evening when they played a game under the lights at Hope College. Unfortunately, the game did not go as well as the Scots would have liked, as the Flying Dutchmen walked off the pitch with a 5-0 win on the strength of four second half tallies.

With the loss, Alma is now 5-7-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the MIAA, while Hope improved to 8-3-3- in 2011 and 5-2-1 in the league.

Hope scored the first goal of the game at the 12:56 mark and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The contest got away from the visitors during a period of less than five minutes in the second half. Hope took control of the game by scoring three goals from 50:54 until 55:25 to take a 4-0 advantage. The Flying Dutchmen scored their final goal at 69:59.

For the game, Hope outshot Alma by a margin of 24-12 (10 shots on goal to four shots on goal). The Scots had three players notch shots on goal - Fr. D Nick Peper (Northville, Mich./Mich.), who had two, and Sr. M Dirk Roskam (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) and Sr. M/F Cameron Alman (Troy, Mich./Troy Athens), who had one a piece.

The Scots will host Trine University on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Scotland Yard for Homecoming 2011.
