The Alma College Softball Team (17-6, 7-1) traveled to Kalamazoo College and made quick work of the MIAA foe as they defeated the Hornets (1-13, 0-4) by the scores 9-0 and 10-2.
Coming off her worst start as an Alma College Scot, Tara Leddy (Saginaw/Swan Valley) got the ball on the mound in the first game and quickly erased the memory of her last start, pitching a four hit, 11 strikeout, dominating, complete game to improve to 8-4 on the season.
Offensively, ten of the Lady Scots tallied hits in the all around performance that saw second baseman Kasey Miller (Grand Ledge) record the only multi-hit game, going two for four with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Sarah Johnson (Portland) went one for three with two RBI's in the game.
In latter half of the double header, the Scots found themselves trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the second and promptly posted a 10 spot on the scoreboard, and behind a strong pitching performance by Katie Koechling (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) coasted to the 10-2, five inning, win.
Koechling gave up six hits while striking out four in her four inning winning performance. The victory moved her to 8-1 on the season.
Senior Missy Morcom (Chelsea) celebrated her birthday with a two for three game from the plate, scoring a run and knocking in two more. Amy Gaudard (Mt. Pleasant) and Houston Verbeck (Flint/Kearsley) each added two RBI's in the game.
The Maroon and Cream will host Olivet College for a double header this Thursday with a start time of 3:30 p.m.
