WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Alma College volleyball program showed off its never-say-die attitude on day one of the 2026 season, falling behind 2-0 against Oberlin before crawling all the way back to defeat the Yeowomen, 3-2 in a thriller.

Scots' Top Performers:

• Washington & Jefferson
  • Maggie McKale was the top offensive threat for the Scots in the opening match of 2026, leading in the kills department (8, 2.00 p/s) while setting a career-high with a half-dozen digs (1.50 p/s) along the way.
  • Kennedy Weston was serving up the points in her collegiate debut, watching a contest-best four (1.00 p/s) service aces fall to the court in addition to topping Alma in assists (15, 3.75 p/s) and securing seven digs (1.75 p/s) as well.
  • Maren DeBeau led the defense by digging up 18 balls (4.50 p/s) whereas Mackenzie Siko was lethal with her attacks, succeeding on 75% of her swings.
• Oberlin
  • Mallorie Nevadomski followed in Weston's footsteps with a personal-best four aces (0.80 p/s) in the nightcap while also logging a career-most ten digs (2.00 p/s) too.
  • Nevea Bush reached double-digit kills for the first time as a collegian with an even ten (2.00 p/s) and Emily Carling led the Scots in that category at 11 (2.25 p/s).
  • Grace Steiner averaged 4.40 digs per set to pace the backline, both Ruby Maynard (18, 3.60 p/s) as well as Weston (14, 2.80 p/s) made setter contributions, and the duo of Savannah Beery plus McKale formed a wall above the net at four blocks apiece.
